I’ve written before about the cedars (actually an ash juniper) that is endemic around here. It leaches a lot of water from the soil as well as being quite flammable. Just a pest plant.
I’ve got thousands growing on the ranch and have been cutting them down as much as I can over the past ten years. I can really only do this in the spring and fall when the rainfall reduces the fire danger as I burn the downed trees.

This time I got to cut down a few that were pretty large and I’d been wanting to remove for quite a while. Three of them were in the way of building a shelter for the cars as you can see above.

The other four were in the patio area and needed to be dropped pretty precisely to avoid damage to the fence, fountain or other ornamental plants.
Following the dropping of the trees there was a lot of time dragging the pieces to the fire… my rule of thumb is 30 minutes of chainsaw time equals 2.5 hours of dragging. It’s usually worked out that way anyhow.
